Ben Gebert has navigated life with a hearty laugh and a warm smile. From his mom’s heartbreaking passing when he was a teen, to his own journey with recovery—Ben is a testament to resilience.
And now, he needs our help.
Ben is relying on dialysis after both kidneys have failed. A living donor is his best—and possibly only—hope for a second chance at life.
THE JOURNEY SO FAR
Terrible News
Ben learned in 2023 that his kidneys were failing. His quality of life quickly declined, and he began dialysis three times per week. Family & friends considered donation, but none were a fit.
Beginning the search
Ben began the rigorous process of getting on the donor list. While undergoing dialysis, which is not a longterm solution, Ben had one kidney removed and the second stopped functioning.
Our last hope
The average wait time for a kidney donor is 3-5 years — time Ben may not have. Please reach out or learn more if you, or someone you know, may consider a life-saving donation for Ben.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
UW Medicine’s ‘Living Kidney Donor’ program provides expert care for both living kidney donors and transplant recipients. Ben is A-, but there are ways to donate, no matter your blood type. Visit UW’s site to learn more, or take the first steps to see if you are a donor candidate:

Help save our son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Ben is a graduate of Western Washington University, and gives his all to everything he does; from 13 years as an industrial engineer at a manufacturing company in Woodinville, to the beautiful treehouse he helped build for his niece, and cheering on his favorite teams. He’s a loving brother, an amazing son, and a true friend to all who know him. He loves riding his eBike, watching Husky football with the family, and sharing laughs with our uncles and cousins at Mariners Spring Training every year. We love him, and desperately hope to see him thrive again, thanks to you.
